A well known vocalist with a powerful and unforgettable voice, Sunil Malawana began as a guitarist. His musical career started with the legendary musician, and King of Sinhala pop music Clarence Wijewardena’s first band named the Moonstones, where he was the youngest member at just 16.

Their first record was produced in 1968, and they used electric guitars, a sitar, a saxophone and two violins.
